1. Go to an audio news web site such as Voice of America News or other audio web sites.

2. Sometimes Americans could speak little too fast for you to catch their accent. You can set the play speed to help you truly hear how Americans speak especially how they link words together. Click here to learn the linking rule in our 30 accent tips.

There are three ways to set play speed.

1. Go to the menu Audio/Video then Play Speeds to set the play speed.

2. You can just right click the web page and choose Play Speed.

3. Go to the media play at the bottom, choose the play speed.

3. Listen to and repeat after the native English speaker in the audio.

Pronunciation Patterns makes repeating after the native English speaker easy. You can right click the web page and choose Record as Starting Position. Then you can right click the web page and choose Play from the Recorded Starting Position to replay the audio from the recorded position.

Pay attention how the speaker in the audio link words together.

You can record your voice easily with Pronunciation Patterns. Simply click F2 to record, F3 to stop recording, and F4 to play back your recording.

4. If you find a word you have trouble pronouncing, you can just highlight the word and choose Say ... and Add to Learning List to add the word to your learning list.
